Collaboration in brief

Objective Solution Result
The collaboration aimed to get the most out of Google Workspace – both in terms of end-users and the IT administration. Your Google Workspace service improves the level of data security and streamlines procedures, for example. Continuous partnership ensures the continuous development of the environment and additional hands lighten the workload of the IT team.

Objective

Google Workspace has been a familiar and well-liked environment for Algol for more than ten years, and even though there is a lot of in-house expertise, the team simply does not have enough time to do everything. The diverse Google Workspace environment is full of opportunities, but it takes a huge amount of time to try and test everything without any outside help.

The collaboration aims to get the most out of Google Workspace – both in terms of end-users and the IT administration. In practice, this means improving data security, increasing visibility in the Google environment as well as training the staff and therefore working smarter, not harder.

Time is a critical factor for us: it is not that we're not interested in the development – nor would the time spent on it be wasted – but there are so many other things that need to be done.

Solution

The Your Google Workspace service and Gapps' active role as a partner have significantly improved Algol's Google environment. The introduction of new features, such as the activation of various alerts, has brought much-needed visibility to the environment and has improved the level of data security. This information is critical to the overall development of Google Workspace: knowing which events to react to and which can be ignored.

Training end-users and developing work methods are also part of the Your Google Workspace service. A large organisation employs a wide range of users, which means great variations in their needs and skill levels. User training and shared ways of working play a key role in streamlining and rationalising the work flow.

We could have done everything ourselves, but it would have required a lot more effort – and that's what expertise is all about. Do the right things, and get them right the first time.

Results

An expert partner's perspective has improved Algol's Google Workspace environment in many ways – both in terms of technical management and working methods of the end-users. A continuous partnership ensures the continuous development of the environment and additional hands lighten the workload of the IT administration team.

Even though Algol has in-house expertise to manage the environment, it would be impossible to keep up with the new features of the ever-evolving and diverse Google Workspace ecosystem. A proactive and competent partner helps to assess what the different features mean for Algol: can and should they be introduced to the environment, will they be useful in Algol's operations?

New features are no good – no matter how many there are or how great they are – if they're not adopted.
